Ethics

With my group Tiger Web design we researched different ethical topics. A lot of un-ethical things happen in the world, especially in business. I wouldn't say that i particularly learned anything specific from each case we presented to the class. Overall what i took out of the project is you are the only person who has control of how you handle a situation. If you have a guilt feeling about something chances are there is a reason for it. When someone is pressuring you to do something you feel is wrong you are the only person who can stand up for yourself and say no. Weather is be slacking on the job, changing your research or hiding a mistake from the rest of society you are the only one in control of your actions. Going to court and trying to get out of it just makes you even more wrong. Stand up for your actions and be the better man to the one that is trying to force you to do wrong.
Hey guys!

So you are now the new students in Angie's class. Consider yourself lucky! I am a finance major with a minor in accounting, i hate to write. Angie however, made this class enjoyable. Work for a client gets a tough at times but there honestly isn't any other way to really apply your writing skills than hands on experience. Don't worry about the work load she presents to you on the first day, at times it is time consuming but overall it is nothing compared to some other classes. Also working on a proposal is so much more enjoyable than studying for a cumulative accounting test...which i have two of tomorrow so i will talk to you later! Good luck!

Hey Angie this posting is for you. You told me to mention in my blog that if there will be anyway to earn and extra point in replace of not being able to attend the showing last Thursday due to class to remind you of it in my blog posting. I forgot a minute ago so I'm just reminding you now! thanks!

Hey Guys!

So I'm a little late on this posting, i apologize! At this time last Monday the United States and other country's all over the world were in complete shock with the even that took place at Virginia Tech. Everyone had there opinion on the matter and many people spoke their minds. I tried to keep my judgment to myself. Still to an extent i would like to keep that a private thing. I am in complete support of the Virgina Tech community and their families, for i was very very close to becoming a student at VT. I've learned over the past year that you get so comfortable with a way of life, your surroundings, the people you see everyday or even once a year even those people that you only talk to over the phone or IM. We get so comfortable that we don't ever remind our selves that in a split second everything about your existence could change. Your world could completely fall apart with a simple phone call, E-Mail or even sound. I think that if people thought about these things more those comfortable settings we feel we are always in could become much safer. If when we are walking back from the library at odd hours of the night we constantly check our the road behind us and in front of us for unfamiliar behavior, or when we are home to make sure we lock our doors and don't open the door unless you know the person trying to get in. It the little things we do in our everyday life that keep us safe, the good habits that we get ourselves into can make less prone to a tragedy than someone else. Of course i an not naive and i understand things are out of human control. You can not no matter how hard you try completely control someone else's behavior. However if you know your roommate has been saying odd things recently that scare you don't hesitate to refer them to help. They may begin to hate you but at least your life is not in jeopardy any longer. I have noticed Clemson City police keeping a watchful eye on the Clemson campus recently and it is greatly appreciated however they can not watch each student as close as each of us may need to be watched. We need to protect ourselves from preventable danger.

Final Count Down

Hi guys!

ok this one is a little late but it has been a hectic weekend! We are in the final weeks of our semester so it is officially crunch time on finishing up our web page. Out group has a lot of what we need to have done finished... we now need to work with the other groups on the final project. I hope to help out pretty much but giving my opinion and knowledge on web pages. We have most of ours drone so it will be a lot of fixing grammar and what now throughout the page. I know the expression to many cooks in the kitchen a little to well so my main plan is going to be just do what you are asked to do. I'll take a semi back seat to people that are better in certain aspects of working on the page than i am i will complete things as they ask for my help. i think this will work out the best for everyone. We'll know better when this week is over i guess! Everyone have a good week.

Dual Coding

As a Finance and accounting major it is safe to say i normally do not notice how visual arts impact my thinking daily. However putting a little more thought into as asked for this entry i think i may have come up with some examples. One of the main examples that came to mind was Disney World. However when i put more thought into it the main reason this example comes from the idea of having a patten so no other company can use the same image, logo, name etc. Disney World holds the rights that no other company may use the famous "mickey ears." Having this makes it that no matter where we are in the world if we see those mickey ears our thoughts immediately transfer to thinking of Walt Disney World, Land, Euro etc. So as i said before hand as a Finance major I'm not that sure if this is the correct example, however this is what comes to my mind when i think of examples on how one image will direct your mind to a certain thing.

Blogging

It's finally spring break time... I'm so excited. This week in class we talked about blogging and what our opinion on it. Well i have never thought it was a good idea. However i have only been experienced in it on a personal matter until i enrolled in business writing. Before this course i thought it was a horrible idea, i have had friendships demolished as well as friend have the same problem due to so called "friends" saying rude things about one another over the Internet. However in this course i have had the chance to write about my progress with our project and experiences in the "mock" business world. I enjoy writing every week about what we have done in class and what we will be working on, however i still to this day do not agree with talking about friends or other people in a blog. If you feel you can write it on the Internet you need to be able to say it to someones face no matter the circumstance. weather it be a boss, a friend, a companion or a relative don't make your personal problems public for the rest of the world to fine over the Internet. Work them out between you and the other person or go talk to someone in private or keep a private journal. Also don't ever give the excuse i didn't do it for other people to see, anyone can find anything they want over the Internet. That is why i also think it is important to keep your my space and facebook account confidential and classy. Then again this is only my opinion on it, i don't want to make anyone mad and i didn't want to write about this blog topic, however i am not one to not do something i asked.

Have a safe and fun spring break.
See ya'll next week

Crunch time

Hey ya'll,

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I had a busy but fun one. So it's "crunch time" proposal is due on Wednesday! i cant believe it. We have been putting out work in however we still feel the pressure of getting it done on time. I couple more days would help however i have faith our group can pull together an excellent proposal by Wednesday regardless. we each have our own section to work on to make sure the work will be divided evenly throughout the group. Crystal and i are working on the website and describing the website and what we have offered our client in the proposal. i hope Ms Cribb likes our creation, we have put a lot of work and effort into the website thus far. i know it will be a difficult decision and she will make the right choice weather she chooses our group or not. Tomorrow will be a packed day of proposal writing. I have a friend in town who will get to experience it along with me, that should ease any stress. She is a nursing major so my business classes will be a bit odd for her this week however i hope she enjoys the wonderful weather we are due to have and the change of scenery she is experiencing. I'll see you all tomorrow morning in class. Sweet Dreams.

Interview Reflection

Interviews were this week.... exciting! I wasn't nervous about my interview this time around, i thought it went extremely well. It was an excellent opportunity to get some more hands on experience while i get ready to enter the business world. I was very confident which i believe helped my ethos. I was caught off guard with a few questions however i answered them to the best of my ability while still being honest. I left the interview feeling confident that it went very well. i truly thought this was an excellent opportunity for the hands on experience. I feel more confident as i know i will be using these skills in the up coming months for while i try to get a summer internship.

so far...

I can honestly say so far that i love this class. Some may think things are to easy, or some may think these things are not important. However as a Junior in this class i am realizing how important this class actually is. So far everything we have done is this class is corresponding perfectly with the stressful things that are happening in my professional life. We talked about how to write a good resume the day i was passing mine in for the career fair. As soon as i got out of class i went to the library and changed mine. It was helpful advice the things we talked about in class. And the cover letter i have been working on mine to make sure i can perfect it before i head in for interviews. The mock interviews i cant wait for. i had an interview for an internship last Wednesday and i thought it went really well, my goal is to be as relaxed when i do my mock interview to see how well i get graded. Then i will really know how well it went! I like the fact that we are working in groups. For example when we were writing our e-mail to the client last week i had ideas in my mind but it was so interesting to hear the rest of the groups ideas as well which helped us to write what i think was a very successful e-mail. One of the main things i have learned so far however is that no matter how professional you think you may be at the time there is always something new to learn, a different way to act or someone else that does things different. I think it's important to not only int he business world but in the real world as well to make sure you stay true to yourself. be your own person we were all created differently for a reason.

One last thing. i know this is last minute but i still have no idea what i am going to do for this little presentation!! if anyone may have an idea please leave a comment!

Thanks guys!

Have a wonderful night and week!

Busy.

Hey guys!

Well i think it is safe to say it is that time of the semester again. In the next three weeks i have two tests at least one day during the week. I thought i was doing pretty well with time management until we had our out of class meetings this weekend. We were just trying to find another time to meet and it seemed near impossible!!! I understand college is hard and time management is crucial but i feel like no matter how hard you try or how far in advance you begin you are never ready for the deadline date! At this point in time we are trying to work on research and potential layouts. I told my group that i would do the layout research. I think it is sad that most of the layout ideas that i get is from using websites that i use for other classes. I guess I'm using multitasking at its finest. Well i would honestly like to stay here and write more and complain that i feel like i have no time, however that is the case and i really have no time and need to get back to studying for my finance and accounting tests that i have back to back on Tuesday. Wish me luck!!!!
Talk to you guys soon!

Decisions Decisions

Hey Guys!

Talk about writing at the last possible minute. I tried to write something earlier today before i went out to watch the game but i just couldn't think of anything worth writing about. so I've come to the conclusion of "decisions decisions" in the past two days two different friends have came to me with problems. This isn't out of the norm at all, i tend to keep and open mind and level head so i can give good advice. However these two problems though i helped talked my friends through it and told them i would be there for them still through me for a loop. They were two very different problems that made me really think about my future. They really got me thinking on how decisions we make today, though they may not immediately effect our life could really influence our future. They also made me put into perspective of what i really want out of my future. talking to both of them who one is my age the other about 15 months younger than me knew at least one thing they were sure they wanted. I couldn't think of anything that i was positive i would like. I always have things in mind but who is to really say what they want. i mean i have a hard enough time picking out one outfit that i am supposed to wear all day!!!! i mean 12 hours is a long time to be committed to something. as you can probably see now i change my mind on a lot of things. These situations got me thinking about our projects as well. we will come up with some pretty great ideas among the 8 different groups in the two classes and these two ladies have to pick one web design. this web design is going to really effect the sunshine house in the future. makes me really feel the pressure. i guess this posting is just a lot of me thinking out loud so i am sorry to have babbled on for so long. i definitely have some pretty solid motivation to make sure i put forth my best work. and its funny that this motivation came from something that has nothing to do with business writing.

Sleep tight guys I'll see you in the morning.

Week 2

Hey guys! ok well this was an exciting week in writing. we picked the groups that we will be working with for the rest of the semester! it was fun and awkward trying to get to know everyone to help us in the decision process. i was a little nervous at first because i didn't know anyone in the class. One i let it be known that i have taken 5 years of computer science it seemed my classmates were interested in getting to know my skills. I'm excited that we are assigned a website, i love to do things in web design so this will keep me plenty occupied for the semester. my group is really nice, i think we will work well together. we all have very different things that we can add to the group that will make us more efficient. I also liked how this week we had the chance to do a lot of things with our groups in class. I know it is still the beginning of the semester but i have a feeling i will really enjoy this class. i take a lot of really hard classes on my Tuesday and Thursday so it is reassuring to my sanity that i have an enjoyable class to attend on Monday Wednesday and Friday.

first posting...

Hi! Well for starters my name is Jocelyn Zybert. Having a last name that starts with "Zy" usually means I'm always last. I come from a small town about 30 minutes north of Boston Massachusetts. I love it there, coming to school in the south was definitely a change of pace for me. However i would never take back a minute of my experience here so far. I am currently a second semester junior working on a finance major. I'm taking 18 hours this semester so i always feel like I'm way to busy. I think it will work out well though because i hate not having something to do! This past semester, fall 2006, i pledged Delta Sigma Pi. It is one of the professional business fraternities here on campus. I've met some pretty wonderful people through it and am looking forward to my first semester and an active brother. i really have no idea why i am a business major i should be doing something like interior design or architecture but i chose the safe rout instead of following my heart. I have an older brother Chris who is an IT major at Rochester Institute of Technology. He is one of the most important people in this world to me. My all time favorite thing ever i would have to say is baseball. I'm a fanatic. I have had season tickets to the Red Sox my entire life, my dad always tells me he created a monster when it comes to my obsession. I am also a huge fan of Clemson baseball. I go to as many games as possible! Since i call Boston home i am also a New England Patriots fan and am impatiently waiting the start of the game tonight! I like to spend my time with people that are laid back and just like to enjoy life for what it is. I am kind of a nut about organization, i don't like kayos. Well i guess that is all i will write for now. If there is anything else you would like to know about me feel free to ask! :)
